Dick Glessner

Dick began his career with the Milton Township Vol. Fire Dept. (now Sterling Fire District) in 1971. He became Asst. Chief in 1980 and was appointed Chief in 1984.

He has had many accomplishments through the years:

  • Basic EMT since 1973
  • Ohio Fire Instructor since 1980
  • Served on the Wayne Co. Fire School Committee in the 1980's
  • Instructor or assisted at WCFRA Fire School since early 1980's
  • Member, Ohio Fire Chief's Association
  • Member, International Society of Fire Service Instructors
  • Member, Ohio Society of Fire Service Instructors
  • Member of the Wayne Co. Training Facility Steering Committee
  • Fire Safety Inspector
  • Attended original Fire Investogation class in Wayne County
  • Active in WCFRA as well as WCFRA Chief's Assoc. (past president of both Associations)
  • WCFRA Firefighter of the Year 1990

Dick is married to Patricia (Plank) Glessner and is a life-long resident of Sterling. He is a graduate of Norwayne High School and The University of Akron, Wayne College. Dick is third generation owner of Maibach's Home Furnishings. He is a member of Sterling United Methodist Church, Church Trustee & Chair of Long Range Planning Committee.

In his "free time", Dick enjoys running, sports, reading and The History Channel.
