Phil McLean has been a member of the Richfield Fire Department since 1976. Serving as the department Training officer for many years as a part time member and fulltime as the Fire Inspector. He holds the rank of Captain as a part time member and still enjoys planning and delivering Fire Training.
Phil worked over 20 years in Medical Diagnostic Imaging, designing and developing Nuclear Medicine Equipment. Phil has severed two terms as the President of the Summit County Firefighters Association, has served 16 years as the Ohio State Firefighters Education Chairman. He is the Director of Training at the University of Akron, Training Center for Fire and manages municipal, industrial and High School tech programs. Phil serves as the Chairman of the Firefighter and Fire Safety Inspector committee coordinating the efforts of the Ohio Fire Alliance and the Division of EMS in regards to training standards and certifications for the Ohio fire service. Phil was instrumental in coordination of the creation of the recent laws passed requiring continuing education for the fire service.
Phil is married 28 years to Sherri, who is a teacher and has one daughter Brittany, who helps manage a family business and is completing her degree as a Child Life Specialist & minor in Business at the University of Akron.
